Penn State hockey program unveils new jerseys

Penn State is getting ready to make their Division I hockey debut this fall, so both the men’s and women’s teams rolled out new road & home jerseys.

This is a tough one to judge, because certainly by comparison with most hockey teams, these are incredibly plain jerseys. But of course, this is Penn State we’re talking about, so by Happy Valley standards these are downright flashy.

While I enjoy the fact that the lion logo plays a prominent role, I have to say that I’m left looking for just a little bit more here… perhaps a little more striping around the sleeves and waist, like the Winnipeg Jets? Maybe something taking color out to the shoulders, like Boston Bruins home jerseys?

Overall, I think these are pretty darned good – again, given the Penn State tradition, we should expect something very basic, and in that sense it puts all the more emphasis on that Nittany Lion logo.

What are your thoughts on them? Too plain, or decidedly classic?
